Gathering resources on the map in Rise of Kingdoms is one of the most important method to grow your city, research, and train troops. So, to become effective at farming resources, you need to have a group of solid gatherer commanders.
In this guide, I will be covering the essential skills that you need to get started with bringing in ton of resources, simple and effectively without that much of investing your time in them. Without further ado, let’s get started!
How to Gather in Rise of Kingdoms
There are at least 7 gathering commanders in Rise of Kingdoms. Ideally, you want to use all of them but keep some of them specialized for specific resources. Each commander comes with passive skill set that lets them harvest a certain resource faster than other.
So, you will want to have a diverse set of gathering commanders to be able to take advantage of the gathering speed bonus. Here’s a list of how to build a solid gathering teams in Rise of Kingdoms:
Level her up to 10 and rank up to 2 stars. Afterwards, max out her 2nd skill and don’t invest in her anymore. This is mainly because legendary commander is much more expensive and time-consuming.
Cleopatra VII gains 30% gathering speed bonus when harvesting stone. A great legendary commander when you need these extra stone in less time.
If you want to get that 30% food gathering speed bonus, then roll Ishida Mitsunari. Just like Cleopatra VII, level this commander to 10 and rank him to Star 2. Then max out his 2nd skill and don’t invest any further.
Depending on your luck, some players will get Cleopatra VII first and some will get Ishida Mitsunari first. Either way, both are good choice for accelerated gathering speed bonuses.
Another solid gathering commander to have is Seondeok. She is pretty good at gathering one of the most important resources in Rise of Kingdoms: Gold. You will need a lot of gold in late game, especially with researching high level technologies and expensive troops.
To maximize her gathering capabilities, level up to level 10. Then rank her to Star 2 and max out her second skill. Afterwards, stop investing in her because these are the only two important skills you need to get Seondeok going.
Joan of Arc
Joan of Arc is an easy commander to get started since she is available to players who pick France as their starting civilization. If you have this epic commander, level her up to 10 and rank to Star 2. Then max out her 2nd skill and don’t invest anymore.
It doesn’t take that much time to max her out since she can be easily obtained via chests, daily quests, events and sometimes from the Expedition Store.
One of the easiest commander to get your empire up and running is Constance. She can be obtained via chests. One of the main advantage that this elite commander has over other commanders is the 20% gathering speed bonus for wood.
To get the most out of Constance, level her to 10 and rank her up to 3 stars using the star upgrade trick. Max out her 2nd & 3rd skill. This gives you the opportunity to get a headstart early in the game.
Another good commander that’s easy to get, Gaius Marius. Just like Constance, you want to level this commander to level 10 then rank to Star 3 using the star upgrade trick.
Gaius Marius has 20% food gathering speed bonus. Which means it is easy for him to farm food on the map with less time. Good for getting started early in the game.
Lastly, Sarka is one of several good gathering commanders to start with. She is like jack-of-all-trades since there’s no specialized speed bonus. She gathers all type of resources at 18% increased speed.
Which makes it easy to work with her since she can adapt to various resources without that much of hassle. Level her to 10, and rank to Star 3 using the star upgrade trick. Then max her 2nd and 3rd skill. You can get Sarka via chests pretty easy.
How to Gathering Effectively in Rise of Kingdoms
Every time you send out a commander to gathering, the should absolutely be led by a gathering commander. In fact, you should always have more gathering commanders than your dispatch availability.
Which means your remaining gathering commanders should be sent as secondary commander to help out with harvesting resources to reduce the time it takes.
With 5 marches, it’s more effective to send your double march to farm alliance deposit.
There’s no perks with sending non-gathering commanders to harvest resources as they don’t really help out that much. Commanders like Genghis Khan or Lancelot harvest kills, not crops, woods, and stone for you.
Train & Use T1 Siege Units
The siege units is by far the most underrated unit in Rise of Kingdoms and you will want to have 100K siege units. Here’s how it works:
- A siege unit carries 4 times more resources compared to other troop type.
- They are the easiest unit to train.
- Healing 100K siege units only takes 3 seconds, seriously.
Gathering on Alliance Territory
Most of you probably don’t know this bonus exists in Rise of Kingdoms, but gathering on Alliance Territory is a tremendous help to advancing your empire. Here’s how gathering on Alliance Territory helps you out:
- Get 25% gathering speed bonus when harvesting on Alliance Territory
- Your alliance gets 1% on the top of the resources gathered from the RSS.
- We highly recommended teleport to the edge or outside of the flag areas, so that these RSS can spawn in the middle.
Keeping Idle Gatherers Busy
You always will want to keep your idle gathering commanders busy and you can do that without having to check in Rise of Kingdoms to see if they are done or not. Here’s how you can do that:
- To enable this feature, you will need to turn on the notifications via settings.
- Set “When troops have returned” to ON.
- Enable notifications for Rise of Kingdoms on your device.
