For the next 5 seconds, increase troops’ attack and defense and increase all damage. Upgrade Preview: Attack/Defense Bonus: 10% / 12% / 14% / 16% / 20% |
Given its bonus effect, you should be keeping the Indomitable Army up all the time as often as you can. The bonus that the troops get in both attack and defense greatly benefits them during the skirmishes.
Divine Julius | |

![]() | Reduces damage taken by Caesar’s troops. When Caesar’s army has been reduced to 60% or less of his units, he has a 10% chance to further reduce damage taken for the next 3 seconds whenever his troops are attacked. The effect can only trigger once every 5 seconds.
Upgrade Preview: Damage Taken Reduced By: 3% / 4.5% / 6% / 8% / 10% |
This passive skill is very strong. Basically this skill has a 10% chance to grant damage reduction for every 3 seconds if Julius Caesar’s army is 60% or less of the total units. At max passive skill, he gets up to 40% reduced damage, which increases his army’s defense.
City Killer | |

The Founders is an ultimate passive skill that lets you bring more troops, thereby increasing your army’s attack and defense value. Since Julius Caesar starts with a base troop size of 150,000, an additional 15% will easily add a few ten thousands to his army size.

Best Julius Caesar Talent Trees
In the next part of our best Julius Caesar commander guide for beginners, we will talk about talent builds. There are at least 5 viable talent builds and it is entirely up to your gameplay and strategy. Fortunately, Julius Caesar is an incredibly flexible commander, which means you can do a pure army type, i.e, cavalry, infantry or archer only.
Additionally, you can do mixed army if you prefer. We included these optional talent builds if you want to mix and match with countless of excellent secondary commanders. See the best Julius Caesar talent builds below:
Pure PvP Talent Build

This talent build is best for doing a pure army consisting of a single troop type. It takes advantage of boosting your troops strength and making it easier to work with other commanders who have troop-type specialization. In addition to that, the speed of rage generation is improved which helps a lot with Julius Caesar maintaining high uptime on his active skill. Great for PvP battles.
Mixed PvP Talent Build

If you prefer to do a mixed army force, then this is definitely the best talent build. It takes away some points from Attack into expanding talents which gives defense and attack bonuses when doing 3 or more army types. This talent build is much more robust compared to Pure PvP talent build because of the bonuses that it grants. Although, this talent build is viable when working with other commanders that gain advantages with 3 or more troops under their leadership.
Conqueror Talent Build

An effective conqueror needs a strong conquering talent build and this is the most optimized build. It’s designed to maximize critical values like attack, defense and health to make it easier for Julius Caesar to conquer garrisons. Furthermore, the speed of rage generation is greatly improved which helps this legendary commander withstand the full brunt force of enemy garrison attacks. The size of troop capacity is also expanded which helps offset the defender’s advantages.
Pure Field Talent Build

If you prefer to play Julius Caesar as a support commander with just one type of army. This is an optimal talent build. Basically, you invest talent points into improving the troops damage, march speed, and defense to make them robust. This talent build also increases the defense of troops after using a skill which really helps a lot with curbing out the incoming damage.
Mixed Field Talent Build

And finally, you can definitely do mixed army as a support commander. Instead of gaining defense bonuses whenever Julius Caesar activates his active skill. The points are delegated towards giving flat bonuses when rolling with 3 or more types of armies. This gives sustained defense and attacks during the battles and benefits Julius Caesar a lot in multipurpose battles. The speed of rage generation and march speed is also improved in this talent build, similar to Pure Field version.

Best Commander Pairs
Julius Caesar is an extremely well-rounded commander that makes him easy to be paired with almost all commanders. To maximize your and ally’s potential, we have included a list of ideal secondary commanders that synergizes well with Julius Caesar.
Hannibal Barca

Carthage and Rome are natural enemies in real-life, but Hannibal Barca pairs well with Julius Caesar. He comes with a ton of buffs that further increases the overall troops’ damage such as 15% attack bonus when fighting outside of alliance territory. He also can hit multiple targets whereas Julius Caesar can focus on improving the army’s combat potential.
Not to forget to mention that when you attack any city with Hannibal Barca and Julius Caesar, your army will have a small chance to heal themselves for 1,000 health points. That being said, both work well because they can command various troops.
Aethelflaed

If you want to power level your commanders quickly, Aethelflaed pairs well with Julius Caesar. She comes with an incredibly strong active skill that hits up to 5 targets and for quite a high amount of damage. Furthermore, she specializes in killing barbarians and gains extra experience points. Julius Caesar will benefit from her skills a lot since it takes quite some time to max out a legendary commander.
As mentioned previously, Julius Caesar works well with Aethelflaed because he will buff all troops under his leadership including troops under Aethelflaed’s leadership. Needless to say, Aethelflaed can slow down targets to prevent them from escaping.
Richard I

If you want to play on the defensive war, Richard I is an ideal legendary commander to pair with Julius Caesar. Since his damage reduction and defense increase buffs further amplifies Richard I’s defensive capabilities.
In this combo, the troops will gain a high defensive rating that makes them the perfect storm for defending your cities against enemy invasions. Charles Martel and Alexander the Great are also good alternative pairs if you don’t have Richard I.
Yi Seong-Gye

The 20% attack boost and 30% damage bonus granted by Julius Caesar’s active skill tremendously improves nuking commanders’ capabilities. When pairing with Yi Seong-Gye, he will become the best nuker and can easily demolish nearly all commanders with minimal effort.
This makes Yi Seong-Gye an ideal pair for the governors who want to maximize their offensive capabilities. If you don’t have Yi Seong-Gye, Fredrick I is a good alternative choice for pairing a nuking commander with Julius Caesar.
Scipio Africanus

If you don’t have any good legendary commanders. You don’t have to worry about pairing an epic commander with Julius Caesar because Scipio Africanus is already a strong choice. Both come with powerful buffs and increased maximum troop capacity that makes them an extremely formidable commander pair.
Julius Caesar and Scipio Africanus’ skills improve each other that definitely makes a powerful march. In case you don’t have Scipio, you can go with Mehmed II or Osman I.
