Gaius Marius is an elite commander for Rome and can be easily obtained via Sliver Chests and Golden Chests. He isn’t exactly that powerful compared to Scipio Africanus and Julius Caesar, although his skills makes up for the most part of gathering resources and contributing to your civilization’s growth.

To obtain Gaius Marius, you will need to get 10 Gaius Marius sculptures. Once you have the materials, simply go to the commander selection tab and you will be able to summon him. Given the fact that he has low experience requirement, he is easy to level up and will get your main account and farming account going in matter of seconds. Savior of Italy heals portion of the injured troops and deals a small amount of damage. Plus, it reduces enemy march speed. Which helps a lot with escaping from the attackers.

Founder of Empire simply speeds up the time it takes to gather resources. For food, it is 20% faster. Stone, Wood, and Gold gathering rate is increased by 15%.

A simple, yet effective passive skill that reduces the amount of troops you need to bring resources. This passive skill increases the troop load by 30% which is quite a hefty amount.

Increases siege units march speed; increases the ratio of slightly wounded units in overall casualties.

Conqueror of Numidia is a very good passive skill that requires you to use siege units with Gaius Marius. Additionally, the ratio of your troops is slightly wounded during the battle which minimizes the amount of resources that you need to heal them. A must-have passive skill.

Best Gaius Marius Talent Trees

Because Gaius Marius is an elite commander and doesn’t comes with ton of skills to make him a formidable force. He only makes a good pick for gathering resources early in the game. Therefore, there’s only one talent build that we recommend using for this elite commander.

If you are looking for a solid commander to pair with to take advantage of accelerated gathering speed. Joan of Arc is the best pick. She gives a bonus 25% gathering speed on the top of Gaius Marius’s 20% food gathering rate and 15% gathering rate for other resources.

She also heals wounded units which helps a lot with protecting your valuable resources and grants buffs to all troops. Joan of Arc is a good pick that enriches your gathering speed while being flexible enough to work with all troops.


Boudica Commander ROK

Another good commander to pair with is Boudica. She can reduce the enemy target’s rage and deal massive amount of damage. Plus, she reduces their attack by 25% which helps offset with your causalities when under attacked.

Boudica has one of the best rage generation builder talent tree. Which means Gaius Marius will benefit a lot from her talent build that helps keep the enemy slowed, allowing to create an escape route easily.
